The Basque Country is a wild land of sea, sky and rugged mountains, full of the most fascinating people: the Euskaldunak, or Basque speakers. Rooted in mysticism and endurance, these ancient people have managed to preserve their language and culture through all of known European history, from the Romans through till the fall of Francoism in the 1970s. The land speaks, the food speaks, the water speaks, the people speak… claro.
We’ll stay at a beautiful rustic ‘casa rural’ under the watchful eye of Mari, up on Anboto peak. Early mornings start with meditation and cold plunge, days are filled with treks into the wild highlands of the Urkeola Nature Park with accompanying guided reflections, and nights are filled with song, stories and exquisite Basque cuisine from our local chef. You’ll also get the opportunity to do a ‘solo’ - a night out under the sky by yourself.
